My name is Amanda and I am a Core French and Planning Time teacher in Ontario, Canada. Welcome to Clements’ Classroom - a place to find engaging French, Dance, and Drama resources for Grades 4 to 8!
When I first started teaching eight years ago in 2017, I would spent countless hours each night dedicated to lesson planning and making resources for my own Core French classes. I had a lot of difficulty finding French teaching resources in general, but it was especially hard to find resources that were specifically made for Core French students. I constantly found myself modifying or adapting materials that I discovered or purchased to fit the needs of my French as a second language learners. This ended up being very time-consuming and I simply found it easier (and still do!) to make Core French resources from scratch.
During the first wave of the pandemic here in Ontario, in July of 2020, I decided to embrace my suddenly very clear schedule and create Clements’ Classroom - my TPT store and Instagram platform - to help other Core French teachers, like myself, who were struggling to find resources and ideas for their classes. Working at a small school, I have always been the only French teacher, which means I have not had the opportunity to have a teaching partner to bounce ideas off of and to co-plan with, so I wanted to create a virtual space to do just that!
Whether you’re a first year Core French teacher who spends each night prepping for the next day of work, or an experienced Core French teacher who wants to freshen up their lessons and units, I want to create a space to reignite a passion for teaching French as a second language, to lighten teacher workload, as well as to build a community where we share our teaching experiences and I share my ideas with you!
